How do you design A screen print?

Screen printing is a new medium, popularized in the 20th century during the Industrial Revolution. As a result the design process is heavily rooted in technology on computers.

However, Analog Artworks hand draws her designs, starting with marker drawings to lay out a print. She then traces over each color with black ink on clear acetate film to separate the layers.

wHAT IS A SERIGRAPH?

A serigraph, also known as a silkscreen print, is most easily described as a fancy stencil. Each layer of color in a design is its own stencil. To print a design, you have to align or “register” each layer to each other and build the print to completion.

What is the printing Process?

The black ink drawnings on acetate film are used to create a stencil in the screen via a material called photoemulsion. Photoemulsion is lightsensitive, hardening when it is exposed to light. Once the stencils are created, each layer of color is printed seperatly, and registered to eachother in between every color. The design is fully complete when all layers have been printed.
